following the wabi-sabi: EMBRACING THE PERFECT IMPERFECTIONS.

"Wabi-sabi nurtures all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect." - Richard Powell.

Inventory 307 primarily manufactures by hand from the studio and the printmaking facilities, both located in New York City. Each object or print has the unexpected beauty of the irregular, making it unique.

magic realism: THE VIBE OF THE CITY AS AN inspiration.

Inventory 307 topics and imagery come from the worlds of mythology, the unreal, the absurd and the impossible. They are also reminiscences of the past: legends and distant memories from the childhood.

As an antithesis, their execution is nurtured by the city: industrial raw materials, such as concrete, are used for the production of objects and jewelry. Dark alleys with multi-layered painted walls are the stimulus to create polyptychs and accessories.

ABOUT THE ARTIST.

Gary Fernandez is a graphic artist, illustrator, printmaker and object maker based in NYC, best known for his boldly graphic and colorful illustrations. His work combines technology and craft to create intricate visual metaphors through inventive imagery and surreal compositions.

Fernández came to New York with the commitment of making an independent art project with maximum flexibility, to explore the visual possibilities of his graphic work; experimenting with different materials, and techniques, creating hybrids of digital and handmade.

From his Brooklyn studio he explores the possibilities of his geometrical patterned, organic elements, and often circus-inspired characters, using a wide range of media: from hand-carved woodblocks, letterpress, concrete casting to laser engraving or 3D printing.
